F9719 Platform Carina Sofa
The F9719 is a platform island sofa — bouclé seat slabs resting on wide, dark plinth decks that extend past the upholstery into trays and table modules, with wedge-shaped backrests that simply sit where you place them. No fixed arms, no fixed backs, no fixed front: the platforms define territories, and the soft elements arrange on top like islands on water. It is the most architectural seating system in the collection.
Design & Character
Two layers make the language. Below: the deck — a low, espresso-toned platform with a visible stepped edge, running longer than the seats it carries so the surplus becomes surface: a tray edge for books, an inset table between seats, a landing for the evening's glass. Above: the soft geography — thick bouclé seat islands and loose triangular wedges that serve as backrests facing whichever way the room needs. Face the seats together for conversation, back-to-back for an open plan, or line them into a run; the sofa is a plan, not a shape.
Materials & Finish
The upholstery is a pale, flecked bouclé with real grain to its loops, covering seats and wedges identically so every arrangement reads whole. The platforms wear a deep matte espresso with precise edges and recessed shadow lines — cabinetry finish doing the work of legs, arms, and side tables at once. Light fabric on dark deck: the contrast is the composition.
Made for Open Plans and Design-Led Rooms
This is the system for the room that was drawn before it was furnished: lofts, panoramic living floors, showpiece lounges. The islands zone an open plan without a single wall of upholstery — a facing pair makes the salon, a long run with the inset table makes the family side, a chaise return closes a corner. And because every element is finished on all sides, the arrangement can live mid-floor, approached from anywhere.
Styling & Pairing
Keep companions low and mineral: stone-slab tables at platform height, a flat-woven rug running under the full deck footprint, ceramics rather than clutter on the tray edges. The espresso plinth ties to the collection's dark timber; the bouclé answers its pale chairs. Resist adding cushions beyond the wedges — the system's clarity is the luxury.
Why This Piece
Most sofas answer "where do we sit"; this one answers "how does the room work." The F9719 suits owners composing a space — and its genius is kinetic: at a showroom, move a wedge from one edge of the island to the other, and watch the sofa become a different piece of furniture in four seconds.
